Our Moon as you’ve never seen it

Thanks to the longevity of NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, we now get to see our Moon like never before:

That video was made by stitching together thousands of individual photographs the LRO snapped as it orbits the Moon. The photos were taken using the LRO’s Wide Angle Camera.

The LRO launched in June 2009 with a one-year prime mission, however it has recently been extended. The mission is operated through NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD.
